The role of the Parish Council

The Parish Council is the first tier of Local Government and has responsibility for many of the amenities in the village, such as the War Memorial and the allotments.  A full list of the Powers and Duties of a Parish Council can be found on the Gov.uk website.

In general, the members of the Parish Council make decisions regarding the day to day running of the Parish, are consulted by the Local Planning Authority at the District Council about local planning applications, and strive to find the most cost effective way of using the Parish Precept (public money levied through Council Tax) to keep the village running smoothly.

The Parish Council meets on the second Tuesday of every month in the Pennoyer Centre and all members of the public are welcome to attend.  An agenda is published on the Wednesday prior to the meeting; a copy can be found on this website in the Records section and also on the main village noticeboard opposite the village shop.
